Dr. Sarah Roberts uses the K7 jaw tracking device from Myotronics to make custom orthotics for patients with TMJ/TMD or for any big cases that require bite changes. Ninety-percent of the pain that people feel from their head, neck and jaw is from muscle pain. If the muscles are in a relaxed position, the pain will naturally decrease. Custom orthotics made using the K7 Evaluation System provide an effective option for treating migraine headaches that does not involve medication. If you come into Crabapple Dental for a TMD evaluation, you will be put on the Myotronics K7 Electromyography Unit. The K7 allows us to record and analyze the activity of the prominent face, head and neck muscles attached to the lower jaw. We will measure the muscle activity as you perform different movements with your jaw, head and neck. Using this information, we can then diagnose your bite problem and prescribe the appropriate treatment or treatments to relax your jaw muscles and eliminate your painful symptoms.
